• Manage projects under direction of a Principal
• Work with the Principal-in-Charge to develop structural schemes
• Perform and document feasibility studies
• Develop basis of design
• Participate in material and system selection
• Develop preliminary analytical models of vertical and lateral systems
• Evaluate alternate schemes for code compliance, serviceability, constructability and cost
• Manage and lead the Design Development, Construction Document, and Construction Phases of the project
• Attend design and construction meetings
• Perform analysis and design of structural systems
• Design and analyze joints and connections
• Assist and direct project engineering staff with design and analysis
• Collaborate with architects and other consultants on the overall project
• Collaborate with lead BIM coordinator to develop construction documents
• Review specifications for consistency with design and completeness
• Assist the contractor during construction with interpretation of the documents and resolution of field issues
• Review shop drawings for conformance with Contract Documents and design errors
• Answer RFI’s and field questions
• Evaluate requests for substitutions and alternates
• Provide structural observation Assist with development, implementation and enforcement of office design standards
• Assist with Marketing and Business Development efforts
• Assist with determining Fees and Preparing Proposals
• Candidates will have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Civil or Structural Engineering, have a Professional Engineer’s License (PE) or qualified to be licensed via reciprocity.
• Candidates must have a minimum 8 years building design experience. Preference will be given to those with a Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• Candidates are able to analyze, design and detail entire structures with minimal constructability problems.
• Candidates can generate alternate framing schemes. Candidates are able to identify design conflicts and resolve design issues.
• Candidates have the ability to interpret codes and to resolve code discrepancies and ambiguity.
• Candidates understand dynamic behavior of structures.
• Candidates understand and interpret input and output of design and analysis programs.
• Candidates are able to check plans and details for accuracy and completeness and improve constructability of details.
• Candidates are able to compile complete and accurate contract documents working with Engineering and BIM staff.
• Candidates will have the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with design team members, architects, other consultants, building department staff, and contractors verbally and in writing.
Relevant experience includes:
• Overall project design for moderate or large structures
• Modeling mid-rise and high-rise buildings using ETABS, STRUDL, STAAD, and/or SAP
• Linear dynamic analysis
• Design of concrete shear walls
• Design of mild reinforced concrete slabs and beams
• Design of post-tensioned concrete slabs and beams
• Design of concrete columns
• Design of steel structures
• Design of mat foundations
• Design of deep foundations
• Design of high seismic design category structures is preferred Experience in Non-Linear analysis is preferred
• Experience with analysis using time histories is preferred
