Evan Ogilvie is a Civil Engineering major at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, anticipating the completion of his Bachelor of Science degree in 2025. He has gained relevant professional experience through internships at John A. Martin & Associates, a structural engineering firm, during the summers. His academic background includes significant coursework and lab experience in key areas such as Computer Aided Drafting, Mechanics of Materials, Civil Engineering Materials, Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Engineering, and Geotechnical Engineering. In these courses, he has developed skills in producing detailed floor plans using AutoCAD, analyzing mechanical properties of materials, and applying structural engineering principles. In addition to his coursework, Evan is actively involved in extracurricular activities, notably as a member of the Cal Poly Steel Bridge team in 2023 and as an Instructional Student Assistant for the Dynamics course. He possesses a solid foundation in various computer software tools essential for civil engineering, including AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA 3D, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. This combination of education, hands-on experience, and involvement in engineering-related clubs positions him well for a successful career in civil engineering.
